Bees feeding on bee-collected pollen, powdered, then fed back to bees. Taken at Australian National University, Prof. Shaowu Zhang's lab, during 2009.
Feeding bees with pollen can be done with 1). Bee collected pollen, trapped, frozen, then provided to bees again (usually powdered and dried). 2). Pollen substitute as a power, "dry feeding", or 3). Pollen patty as a wet dough provided to bees, usually the powder mixed with syrup, oil and sugar to form a paste.

Bird-feeder
Wednesday 2 November 20227 photosHoney bees will come to visit bird feeders during a period of pollen dearth. This is usually happens in early spring (around April in Michigan when it is warm enough but not enough flowers yet). But during 2022 fall I took photos of bees going crazy at bird feeders at a family farm near Grand Rapids. All 5-6 feeders were filled with bees. -
