Feeding bees with pollen can be done with 1). Bee collected pollen, trapped, frozen, then provided to bees again (usually powdered and dried). 2). Pollen substitute as a power, "dry feeding", or 3). Pollen patty as a wet dough provided to bees, usually the powder mixed with syrup, oil and sugar to form a paste.
Honey bees will come to visit bird feeders during a period of pollen dearth. This is usually happens in early spring (around April in Michigan when it is warm enough but not enough flowers yet). But during 2022 fall I took photos of bees going crazy at bird feeders at a family farm near Grand Rapids. All 5-6 feeders were filled with bees.
